Emira Norman is a freshman at Bard Early College High School who has written a poem in the perspective of Emily Dickinson.

I pray the lord my soul to keep,

From demons and shaitans

That cries and breathes ,

For misery and hatred-

Oh shall not be that black bird-

Who hunts for death and one’s sanity

My soul sets -free-

My brain lies wide awake

-The soul flies-

To a world far away

A place one shall not know

Until it’s time for the -light to show-
